In 2014, Zhu Chengzhi founded Pad for Hope with the ultimate goal of narrowing the gap between urban and rural education opportunities in China.Since 2014 Pad for hope has established 48 STEAM (science, technology, English, art, and music) classrooms in a number of China’s western provinces namely, Yunnan (云南), Sichuan (四川), Gansu (甘肃), Guangxi (广西), Guangdong (广东), Chaozhou (潮州), and Xinjiang (新疆). They collect used iPads from urban areas, install educational APPs on them and loan the iPads to rural schools. They train rural teachers to improve education quality and empower children with connected tablets to engage in self-motivated learning. In total Pad for Hope programs have reached over 10,000 students across rural China.
COLLABORATION WITH KERU
In Summer 2019, a Keru Team traveled to Chengdu, Sichuan to develop a STEM summer camp for children in rural Sichuan.
